HOW DOES THE TESTAMENT REALLY WORK?

Glory to God! I trust you’re well and enjoying your Inheritance in Christ Jesus.

Yesterday I laid the foundation of what Passover really represents with regards to the New Testament. If you haven’t read it that article, please read it for you to be able to follow today’s Teaching.

We spoke about the New Testament being the Last Will and Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ which has made us Heirs of God and Joint-Heir with Christ, and in possession of our Eternal Inheritance of All Things.

Today I want to go a little deeper and explain how this Testament really works.

Firstly, what I’m teaching you is what the Lord Jesus Christ Himself commissioned the Apostle Paul to preach. Acts 26:18 says, ‘To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, THAT THEY MAY RECEIVE FORGIVENESS OF SINS, AND INHERITANCE AMONG THEM WHICH ARE SANCTIFIED BY FAITH THAT IS IN ME.’

When we come to the Lord Jesus Christ we receive 2 Things by Faith in Him: Forgiveness of sins and our Inheritance.

Covenants don’t produce an Inheritance, Testaments do. I am in no way disputing that some aspects of our Faith are covenantal, however, what we have with God is not primarily a covenant but a Testament. At best, what we have with Him is a covenantal Testament and not a testamental Covenant. It may sound like I’m splitting hairs but this understanding makes all the difference.

Acts 20:24 says, ‘But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have of the Lord Jesus, to testify THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.’

Apostle Paul preached a Message of Grace, which a Testament is. With a Testament, the Testator does all the Work and all the Heirs have to do is receive their Inheritance. This was also covered yesterday in detail, please revisit that Message if you have to.

Acts 20:25 says, ‘And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I HAVE GONE PREACHING THE KINGDOM OF GOD, shall see my face no more.’ Paul also refers to His Message as the Gospel of the Kingdom. That’s because our Inheritance of All Things is the Kingdom of God. All Things that we have inherited are what our Father God possesses and that is the Kingdom of God.

Acts 28:30-31 says, ‘And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, PREACHING THE KINGDOM OF GOD, and teaching those things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.’

Paul preached the Gospel of the Kingdom, that’s because we have inherited the Kingdom of God, which in itself is All Things as discussed yesterday.

Hebrews 9:15-17 says, ‘And for this cause he is the mediator of THE NEW TESTAMENT, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of ETERNAL INHERITANCE.

For where a TESTAMENT is, there must also of necessity be THE DEATH OF THE TESTATOR. For A TESTAMENT IS OF FORCE AFTER MEN ARE DEAD: otherwise IT IS OF NO STRENGTH WHILE THE TESTATOR LIVETH’

The sin that separated us from God have been removed. We have received the Forgiveness of our sins. The Redemption Price of the Sacrifice of the Lamb has been paid. The Testator died, now the Inheritance is ours. We’re now Heirs of God and Joint-Heirs with Christ. All things belong to us. The Kingdom of God has been willed to us through the Last Will and Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was effected on the Cross when He died.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26 says, ‘And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is THE NEW TESTAMENT in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.’

When we eat the Bread and drink the Cup, we’re celebrating our status in the Kingdom of God because of the Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. We’re proclaiming that the Testator died and left us an Eternal Inheritance of All Things, which is the Kingdom of God. We’re therefore Heirs of God and Joint-Heir with Christ because of the Precious Blood of the Lamb.

So when you drink the Cup and eat the Bread, do so with Thanksgiving in full appreciation of what it cost for us to become the Sons of God, who are Heirs of God and Joint-Heirs with Christ with an Eternal Inheritance of All Things, which is the Kingdom of God. All because of the Last Will and Testament of the Lord Jesus Christ which was effected on the Cross of Calvary when He died over 2 000 years ago.

Thank You Lord Jesus!

Glory to God!
