Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth THE prophet that should come into the world – John 6:14
If you had to ask God’s People who the greatest Prophet in the Scriptures is, they’re likely to give answers such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and the like. What they don’t know is that the Lord Jesus Christ is actually a Prophet and was known as such in His Day on earth. More than that, He wasn’t just a Prophet, but He was THE Prophet everyone awaited in Israel. Acts 3:22 says, ‘For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.’ Just as Moses the Prophet delivered Israel out of Egypt, God would send the Lord Jesus Christ the Prophet to deliver Israel out of sin.
When John the Baptist’s Ministry started to attract attention, many knew he was a Prophet but they wanted to know if he was THE Prophet. John 1:21 says, ‘They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.” The Lord Jesus Christ is THE Prophet. I’ve been writing about how you need a Prophet in your life, especially because of what’s coming. However, all of us, no matter how ‘anointed’ we might be, we’re infants compared to the Lord Jesus Christ. There’s no greater Prophet than the Lord Jesus Christ. Absolutely none! He’s the PROPHET of Prophets. All Prophets in the Church function under His Grace and by His Grace. They’ve each been apportioned a Measure of His Grace. The Lord Jesus Christ! Glory be to His Holy Name forevermore!
The Lord Jesus Christ is THE Prophet of Christianity and to Christianity. If we understood this, we would revere Him more than Muslims revere their prophet Muhammad. The Lord Jesus Christ is not just our Saviour, but He is our Prophet.
His Prophecies are the Core of all Scriptural Prophecy. He’s the only One Who’s the Centre of all Prophecy. He’s the only One allowed to prophesy about Himself. Revelation 22:12 says, ‘And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.’ In one of His Prophecies, He declares that He’s coming back soon. This Prophecy will not fail. It will surely come to pass. All that we prophesy in our day serves to confirm what He has already said, that He’s coming back soon. If you’re living in sin, this is the time to repent. For the Lord will come like a thief in the night to judge the living and the dead. THE Prophet has spoken and His Word is final!
PRAYER
Father in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, help me to take the Prophecies of THE Prophet, the Lord Jesus Christ, seriously. May I prepare for His soon Return by living a holy and righteous Life in Obedience to His Commandments. Amen.
