STEP 2: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (2.5 MINUTE READ)
Glory to God! I trust you’re well and denying yourself, taking up your Cross daily and following the Example of the Lord Jesus Christ so you can rule and reign with Him in this world and the World to Come.
THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
We have to prepare for a total Collapse and a perfect Storm. By that I mean, nothing will work and anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
Hosea 4:6 says, ‘My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.’
There’s destruction that’s coming. However, it’s those with Knowledge who will weather the Coming Storm.
We’ll be conducting Prayer Sessions, we’ll call for times of Fasting, we’ll share Prophetic Words, and the like. However, we need to have more than spiritual Knowledge, vital as that is.
Matthew 4:4 says, ‘Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
According to the Lord Jesus Christ, there are two things man can live on: bread and the Word of God. By that He means, natural things and spiritual things.
We must therefore focus on both the spiritual and the natural. Christians who focus on just the spiritual often fail when having to deal with natural things such as relationships, money and health.
Those who only focus on natural things often don’t go very far because it takes the spiritual to run the natural effectively.
We therefore need to strike a balance.
When the Collapse/Storm hits fully, people will be in a state of flux.
As already discussed, there will be wars, hunger, plagues and natural disasters – and for Christians, there’ll be the added inconvenience of Persecution.
As a result, you’ll need to know how to fast and pray, of course, however, you also need to know how to survive so that you can save not only yourself but others around you.
You therefore have to prioritise personal development. You need to acquire certain skills.
When there’s a natural disaster such as a flood, a hurricane or an earthquake; or there’s a power grid collapse and there’s no electricity – you must know what to do under such circumstances. Not only to help yourself but your loved ones and those around you.
Obadiah 1:21 says, ‘Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
The Lord Jesus Christ is THE SAVIOUR, however, He has saved us so that we may save others with the Help of the Holy Spirit. To save is to deliver. He has therefore made us and called us o be Deliverers. In times of difficulty, we can’t be the ones needing Salvation, we should be the ones dispensing it. Glory to God!
When everything has collapsed, and by that I include things such as the electricity grid and supply chains – you’ll have to know what to do.
It’s one thing for things to collapse for a few hours or a few days, but when it goes past a couple of weeks and into several months and even years, life as we know it will be disrupted in ways we never anticipated.
Our current way of life is structured around convenience. Electricity, water supply, shopping malls, cell phones, safety and security are all conveniences that make modern life so enjoyable. But when they go, and go they will, and sooner than many people think, we’ll need to know what to do.
I therefore recommend that you look into the following:
1. ACCOMMODATION AWAY FROM THE CITY
Cities are going to become unstable because when there are food shortages you can expect bread riots, stealing, looting, vandalism and violence.
People will become desperate for food and start looting shopping malls and when they’re done with them, they’ll come for your home and raid your fridge and pantry. Lawlessness will increase, as per the Lord Jesus Christ’s Prophetic Word.
You might have to speak to someone back home in the village or some other rural setting away from the city about housing you in case your city becomes unruly. You need to be prepared for your city to be completely chaotic and disorderly, and have another location you can go to.
2. BASIC OUTDOOR SURVIVAL COURSE
By that I mean outdoor living, making a fire, cooking outdoors, pitching a tent, reading paper maps, navigation skills, etc.).
When the power grid is down, you won’t be able switch on the kettle or stove. You won’t be able to go to Google Maps and get directions to go anywhere because your device’s battery will be depleted.
When Persecution hits, and the Lord tells you where to run to, you might have to rough it for a while or even for some time. This requires that you learn how to survive away from the city. You’ll have to know what to do when the conveniences of modern life have been take away from you.
We need to prepare for a total Collapse, for a perfect Storm.
3. GROWING YOUR OWN FOOD
When supermarket shelves are empty, you won’t be able to go shopping. You’ll therefore need to keep alive. You’ll have to learn about gardening. You’ll have to grow your own fruit and vegetables in your own garden otherwise you’ll starve to death.
You also have to consider others around you. We’re the Light of the world. We’ll therefore have to know more, not only for our own survival but for the sake of rescuing others as well.
We’ll dedicate a post to food growing since we can’t do it justice now.
4. HUNTING AND FISHING
For protein, if you’re not a vegetarian, you’ll have to learn how to catch your own food. Hunting and fishing are great skills to have under such circumstances. Even though the Lord Jesus Christ multiplied fish and loaves, He however still expected His Disciples to go fishing.
This is something you’ll have to research and pray about. Some Christians are averse to owning a gun, even if it’s for hunting purposes. That’s a matter of conscience. We’ll also dedicate a post to such.
5. TRANSPORTATION
When disaster strikes, and there’s been a flood or an earthquake, or you’re under Persecution and the Lord shows you a city to flee to, you’ll have to know what to do.
I recommend the following:
A. A driving licence, preferably upgraged beyond just driving a sedan or hatchback. Consider a higher code, just in case you’ll need to handle a heavier vehicle such as a truck weighing over 3 500 kg.
B. An advanced driving course. This will teach you to deal with unpredictable circumstances on the road, and will be helpful when you need to drive when there’s a riot or you’re being chased by murderous heathens who hate you for your Faith.
C. Motorcycle licence. This is also helpful when you have to take back routes and you have to navigate terrain your car can’t manage. This might mean getting a motorcycle in addition to your car.
D. Horseback riding. This is a good way to get around in the country. You might not own a horse, however, when things have collapsed, you might be able to barter with someone and acquire their horse. When the fuel pumps are dry, your car will be useless.
E. Swimming. If you can’t swim, now is a good time to start. Find a swim school near you and enrol for classes. When there’s a flood or you have to cross an overflowing river, or you have to rescue a drowning victim, swimming is a powerful skill to have. Other than that, it’s a great form of all-body exercise that will keep you fit because you won’t be able to go to the gym.
F. A pilot’s licence. If you can afford it, a pilot’s licence is a good investment. You might have to fly out of the country or to a nearby town or city. If there are planes available but there are no pilots, your pilot’s licence will be a great way to add value, particularly in emergency situations when hurting people have to be rescued.
6. COMMUNICATION
We most certainly won’t be able to do this section justice now. We’ll need a whole post dedicated to what to do and how to do it. Suffice it to say, you’ll need to prepare for a total Collapse where your cellphone won’t be working because MTN, Vodacom and Cell C would have run out of generator capacity. You won’t be able to call, send emails or SMSs.
You’ll therefore have to either get walkie-talkies to communicate with your family members, or you’ll have to get trained in using an amateur radio or a ham radio, as it’s popularly known.
Ham radios are similar to radios the police or emergency services use. In the movies you’ve heard them say things like this over such radios: BRAVO CHARLIE THIS IS ALPHA ZULU OVER…that’s a ham radio.
Depending on the one you get, you can communicate across town, in your nation or even overseas. These will be vital, particularly when people have to be scattered because of Persecution, a plague or some other natural disaster.
7. FIRST AID AND MEDICAL CARE
We can pray for people to get healed, and they do. However, we don’t know why certain people don’t get healed when we pray for them. The Apostle Paul was sick at some point in his life and the Galatian Church had to take him in. The same man told Timothy to drink some wine to deal with his stomach problem.
We have to prepare for moments when we have to administer things such as CPR. You’ll therefore have to acquire skills around entry level health care. A knowledge of First Aid and having a stocked up First Aid kit are essential.
You also need to get into things like natural remedies since pharmacies would have been long emptied by then.
We’ll also share knowledge on a dedicated post about natural remedies or even what to put in your First Aid kit. There are books that one can buy and read, there are classes that one can attend, some prefer video, it’s up to you how you want to learn.
CONCLUSION
Glory to God! That brings us to the end of STEP 2. For you to survive going forward, you’ll have to acquire additional skills to what you already have right now.
Refuse to be a burden to others. Refuse to be the one begging for help. Rather be the one with Solutions and Answers when disaster strikes.
Please don’t wait for this series to end and then only start acting then. Start now. WE’VE RUN OUT OF TIME.
I won’t share a post tomorrow or the next day to this effect. I’ll probably do some time early next week.
On 1 January 2023, I’ll share the Prophetic Word for the year. I hope you’re ready.
I hope that helps you.
Glory to God!
