By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh – Hebrews 11:4
Abel made it to God’s Hall of Faith. How did he do it? He gave a more excellent Sacrifice than his brother, Cain. In fact, because of his Sacrifice, Abel was commended as righteous. That’s Righteousness by Faith. God looked at his Gift that he put on the Altar and called him righteous. His Offering, even though Abel is dead, still speaks for him before God to this day and declares that the man is righteous. Our Offerings speak for us before God not only in this world but in the World to Come? Absolutely!
Our Obedience before God is our Righteousness, and that’s what will determine whether we get blessed in this life or not, and whether we make it in the end or not. This goes against modern theology, however, that’s the Doctrine of Christ. Abel’s Offering declared him righteous while he was still alive, however, it’s still making the same declaration before God right this minute. Phenomenal! But what kind of Offering did Abel give? Genesis 4:4 says, ‘Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering.’
Abel gave his Firstfruit Offering. He obeyed God’s Commandment to give his Firstfruit and God declared him righteous and his Gift still speaks on his behalf before God. Firstfruit is a Commandment and it’s our Righteousness before God. When you give your Firstfruit, you’re obeying God. James 2:24 says, ‘You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.’ Another statement that many in the Church don’t believe, however, it remains true. When you obey God’s Commandments, like giving your Firstfruit, God calls you righteous and the Reward of the Righteous is given to you in this world and the World to Come. God prospers you financially in this world, and He rewards you with Eternal Life in the World to Come.
CONFESSION
Like Abel, by Faith I give my excellent Offering of Firstfruit. Therefore, God rewards my Obedience by blessing me in this world and the World to Come. My Offering speaks for me before God now and in Eternity. Glory to God!
