In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East – Job 1:1-3
A lot of people associate wealth with wickedness. As a result, they believe those who truly walk in Holiness and Righteousness before God must be poor. In fact, they believe poverty to be a mark of piety. They associate wealth with arrogance and corruption. But that’s not what the Scriptures teach.
Job was the greatest man in the East. He was rich in sheep, camels, oxen, and donkeys. And he also had servants. However, Job walked blamelessly and uprightly before the Lord. He feared God and therefore obeyed His Commandments. Job was a holy man, and as a result, he was wealthy.
Psalm 112:1,3 says, ‘Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments…Wealth and riches will be in his house.’ God blesses Holiness and rewards it with financial Blessing. This is hard for some to grasp but that’s how the Scriptures are written. God blesses Obedience and punishes disobedience. Financial prosperity is not God’s Reward for the wicked but for those who fear Him and are blameless and upright before Him.
CONFESSION
I fear God and obey His Commandments. I live a Holy Life of uprightness and blamelessness. As a result, like Job, wealth and riches are in my house. Glory to God!
