Build others with words

“Remind your people of this, and give them a solemn warning in God’s presence not to fight over words. It does no good, but only ruins the people who listen.” 2 Timothy 2:14 GNTD

Every war that has ever happened, started with words. Someone somewhere said something that was not received well or had the power to switch on a match stick in front of an already highly flammable person and the result was great fires that were difficult to put out. The Lord Jesus Christ was safe until He started saying certain things that the people were too sensitive to hear. The result was death on the cross. Friend, always ask yourself if what you are about to say is something that will build or destroy you or the other person? In the end what spirit have you fuelled with your words, and was it worth it? Did your words activate angels to work or did they empower demons to act? As a Christian you have been given the spirit, the ability and wisdom to exercise self-control. It is a fruit of the spirit that you were born with and when you were born-again you received the Spirit of God. So all you have to do is allow old habits to die, let the flesh and its works die already. Your rage and anger profit no one. Put on Christ, ask the Holy Spirit to help you to rule and reign on your thoughts and your tongue. Renew your mind by constantly taking in the Word of God, then what comes out of you will bless, build, comfort, inspire and restore. That’s what the Lord expects from us. To speak truth in love and to be discerning of the season before we open our mouths because even the truth spoken in love at the wrong time can be destructive. So always be led by the Spirit of God. You will have wisdom and Godly success with your tongue. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Your Word is truth. Help me to grow in Christ-like character by renewing my mind with the Word of God. May I be grounded in love. May my words build and not destroy others. Help me to bear the fruit of self control so that I may bring glory and honour to Your name. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

Have a glory-filled day.
