This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater – Hebrews 7:6-7
Abraham’s greatness as the Father of Faith wasn’t just conferred upon Him by God. He had to follow certain Kingdom Principles for him to fulfil his Destiny. Even though Abraham had received a powerful Prophetic Word from God directly, he still had to use the Key of Humility to unlock his Prophetic Destiny.
1 Peter 5:5 says, ‘In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.’ Most young people look up to other young people. They think the realm of the Spirit is like the realm of the natural. They therefore approach people they way they would things based on human culture. When you’re young, you believe old people to be out of touch, irrelevant and a bunch of has-beens. But that’s now how God views them.
Abraham humbled himself before Melchizedek because he recognised His Authority. By humbling himself before Him, Abraham’s Prophetic Destiny opened up and he became who God predestined him to be. It’s the greater who blesses the lesser. Learn to recognise those who are greater than you and honour them. More than that, actively seek their Blessing. Don’t think because you’re young, this is your time and old people have had their time and now they’re irrelevant. God has deposited something in them through years of experience. Seek out Ministers of the Gospel, older Christians, parents, business people, workers and other older accomplished people. Honour their sacrifice in life and ask them to pray for you. They know something you don’t. For someone to be 70 or 80 or 90 when others die in their teens, clearly he or she knows something. Matthew 23:12 says, ‘For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.’ That’s the Doctrine of Christ!
CONFESSION
I walk in the Wisdom of the Doctrine of Christ. I humble myself under the mighty Hand of God and in due time, He’ll lift me up. Glory to God!
