Glory to God! I trust you’re well and enjoying your Inheritance in Christ Jesus.
In this fourth part of our series, I would like to focus on the error of the current grace message. Since it’s not based on the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ, it fails to produce Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20 says, ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’
The Lord Jesus Christ commissioned the Apostles to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. He told them to make Disciples of all nations by teaching them to obey everything He commanded them.
That’s because only what the Lord Jesus Christ commanded is the authorised Curriculum for producing Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
That’s why these men, including the Apostle Paul never taught today’s popular grace doctrine. This doctrine claims that God doesn’t look at our behaviour because believing in Christ is enough. It claims that we won’t be judged based on what we did but on what Christ did for us. But is what the Lord Jesus Christ taught?
Matthew 7:18-20 says, ‘A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.’
According to the Lord Jesus Christ, you’re good not because you just believe in Him but because of the fruit you bear because you believe in Him. If you bear bad fruit, meaning if you live in sin, you’ll be cut down and thrown into the fire. God won’t look at what Christ did but what you did with what He did for you.
John the Baptist reasoned the same way about this matter. Matthew 7:8,10 says, ‘Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.’
Trees that bear Good Fruit are people who produce Fruit in keeping with Repentance. Those who don’t will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
We must produce fruit in keeping with repentance. It’s not enough to respond to an alter call. We must bear Good Fruit, otherwise we’ll be destroyed with the world. It’s not enough to confess the Name of of the Lord Jesus, you must repent of your sin and produce evidence of that Repentance. God is going to judge you based on what you did with what the Lord Jesus did for you.
Matthew 7:21-23 says, ‘Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Notice how these people know the Name of the Lord Jesus, they even performed Miracles in that Name. These are Christians. Church, Christians who live like the world will be judged with the world and be destroyed with them.
It’s not enough to confess the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, there must also be Fruit in keeping with Repentance. Many will say ‘Lord, Lord’ on the Day of Judgment but they’ll be rejected because of what they did. Their grace doctrine won’t save them.
The Lord Jesus won’t look at what He did for them but He’ll look at what they did with what He did for them. He’ll look at their evil works and destroy them with the wicked.
Remember the parable of the unmerciful servant who after his debt was cancelled by his master he refused to cancel the debts of those who owed him?
This is how he was dealt with in Matthew 18:32-35, ‘Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.’ This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”
Christians who don’t forgive others their sins after the Lord Jesus Christ has forgiven them theirs will be tortured and destroyed in the Lake of Fire. Once again, the Lord Jesus Christ won’t look at what He did for them, but He’ll look at what they did with what they did with what He did for them.
The Parable of the bags of gold ends exactly the same way. A Master gave one servant 5 bags of gold, another 3 bags and yet another 1. The first two multiplied what they had but the last one didn’t. And how did the Master respond?
Matthew 25:30 says, ‘And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ This is a Servant of the Most High God by the way. This is a Believer.
Those who don’t bear Good Fruit will be thrown into the Lake of Fire where there’ll weeping and gnashing of teeth. We’re going to be judged based on what we did with what Christ did for us.
The Parable of the 10 Virgins has a similar ending. 5 Virgins were wise and 5 were foolish. The wise Virgins kept their lamps burning for the appearance of the Bridegroom, but the other 5 didn’t. How did it all end?
Matthew 25:11-12 says, ‘Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us! But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ There are Christians who are not going to make it. Because of what they did, the 5 foolish Virgins were rejected in the end. Having believed a long time ago but now you’re living for the world will cost you your life in the end. It’s only those who endure until the very end who’ll be saved.
This is what the Lord Jesus Christ taught. This was His Doctrine and He commanded the Apostles to teach exactly the same thing. They therefore taught others to obey everything the Lord Jesus Christ commanded.
Until we base our Theology on the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ, we’ll keep introducing new heresies that will guarantee us a spot in the Lake of Fire.
Today’s teaching on grace is foreign to the Gospel. Tomorrow I’ll prove that the Apostles, including Paul, taught exactly the same Doctrine. Like the Lord Jesus Christ, they taught that we will be judged based on what we did with what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us. Expecting to be judged only on what He did for you is not what the Lord Jesus commanded the Apostles to preach.
